Alternative Trauma Treatment without retelling your story & Mental Health

We specialise in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults, especially those suffering from trauma, anxiety and other mental health problems:  We aim to increase their ability to recognise and regulate their own emotions, improve their self-esteem and self-awareness and improve their ability to interact with others.   Clients are seen individually or in small groups or families.

How does Equine Assisted Psychotherapy work?  Studies and Research have shown that those participating in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy experience significant amounts of therapeutic change in a shorter time frame than traditional in office therapies. Positive changes as a result of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy include improvements in:

  • Interpersonal skills and self-esteem
  •  Clients’ ability to identify emotions and manage behaviour
  • Learning by doing (experiential therapy) rather than talking therapy means it is effective in clients with speech and language difficulties, due to use of body language in interaction with the horses and for those who suffered unspeakably severe trauma
  • Release of trauma symptoms without retelling the experience
  • EAP provides a less threatening environment for clients to experience the benefits of working with a psychiatrist, psychologist or other mental health professional
  • Confidence and self efficacy
  • Social Skills and Communication
  • Assertiveness and boundaries
  • Trust and anxiety reduction
  • Creative freedom
  • Resilience
  • Family cohesion
